We are living in a VUCA world where we have multiple headwinds, geopolitical pressures, climate challenge and remnants of global pandemic. In the last 2 years, public and private organisations unleashed an aggressive technology strategy that aims to convert the challenges of the past 2 years into opportunities. Metaverse is a 30 year old science fiction term that continues to draw significant interest among technology companies, media and enthusiasts across the world.

As we try to define design many people will say – To design is to design the design of the design and turn it into a noun, a verb, a proposition, a statement, a challenge or provocation. One could say at the crossroads of AI and design is problem solving as an ability of intelligent systems and it begs the question what is the role of human intelligence and artificial intelligence and where do they both meet? When we dare to go beyond cognition (as the film “Alpha Go” shows) we start seeing all kinds of new combinations of new combinatorial possibilities.
DANIEL MOTTA
My role here is to talk about the new space for learning and working with new sets of technologies like AR, VR, Metaverse and so on. We are seeing the emergence of new operational systems for society. We cannot comprehend what’s going on because we are in the middle of everything. But the truth is that AI is driving the new reality perception and new set of values. Companies don’t exist by themselves.

There is no end to the evolution of technology. We will need to forecast social issues and apply tech for a better life for us all. AI and VR is used not only for digital catalogues but also in the world of gaming and entertainment. In Japan, designers are beginning to question if humans are being enslaved by technology – the work of technology is to connect human lives and human beings for a better future.
